July 2025 Spotlight
RN members of the Ohio Nurses Association, Local OSUNO, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center successfully negotiated and voted to ratify a new labor contract for the over 4,000 nurses employed at the OSU’s hospital campus. This collective bargaining agreement builds on decades of past agreements strengthening the rights and benefits of the caregivers. This was a long fought battle through coordinated demonstrations of solidarity and direct action that pushed the employer to take the nurses seriously. The nurses joined together for this contract campaign under the slogan of Empowering Nurses, Impacting Lives.
Here are some of the highlights of their hard earned gains:
3-year agreement with transparent and equitable wage scales with raises upwards of 16% over the life of the agreement.
Maintaining enforceable staffing ratios to ensure safety and that patient care needs are being met.
An extension on the incentive pay program to help fill staffing holes as they arise.
A new article on Workplace Violence that expands the obligations of the medical center to its employees to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Charge pay differential increase.
Secured access to discretionary bonuses.
