The Ohio Nurses Association

We are Ohio’s professional union for nurses and health professionals, united to protect our professions, patients, and communities.

Since 1904, the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) has championed nurses’ rights and patient care, leading efforts like Ohio’s Nurse Practice Act. Now representing nurses and health professionals statewide, the ONA is part of the AFT, the nation’s fastest-growing healthcare union and 2nd largest nurses’ union.

Together, we fight for fair wages, safe staffing, respect, and improved healthcare through organizing, bargaining, and advocacy. We stand for safe workplaces, fair contracts, and high care standards—because when healthcare workers have a strong voice, patient care improves.

We care, fight, and win as a team.

    POWER IN NUMBERS

True power in healthcare starts when we unite to support one another and our patients, transforming shared ideas into collective strength and meaningful change.

    Safe and Sustainable Staffing

    LONG TERM SOLUTIONS

In the ONA, we combat fatigue and burnout by advocating safe staffing to support bedside care. Adequate nurse-patient ratios reduce strain, improve patient care, and boost nurse retention. This approach tackles burnout and strengthens the healthcare workforce.
